Kuala Lumpur: Naza TTDI has recently launched its new 14,000 sq ft KL Metropolis Show Gallery at Naza Tower, Platinum Park. The show gallery has designated spaces for concierge, coffee bar, AV rooms, two show units, sales gallery, discussion area, and children play area.
The launch is timely as MITEC (Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre) will be operational next year and the KL Metropolis masterplan takes a firmer shape.
According to Naza TTDI deputy executive chairman and group managing director SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin, MITEC is fully completed and they expect MITEC to be fully operational by first quarter of next year.
“We are confident that MITEC with its capabilities to host international events will encourage further growth to the business tourism and MICE industry in Malaysia,” said SM Faliq.
MITEC is the first component of the 75.5-acre KL Metropolis and Malaysia’s largest exhibition space. The exhibition centre has a gross floor area of 1mil sq ft with a total of 11 exhibition halls across three levels. It is able to accommodate 40,000 visitors at any one time.
Next year, MITEC will be a key venue for athletes as Malaysia hosts the 29th South East Asia (SEA) Games.
Apart from MITEC, KL Metropolis is divided into eight precincts, namely Met 1, Met 2, Met 3, Met 5, Met 6, Met 7, Met 8 and Met 9.
With a gross development value (GDV) of RM1.3bil, Met 1 spreads across 4.3-acre of land consisting of two office towers, one serviced residences with 616 units and two retail malls with net lettable area of 81,000 sq ft. It is targeted to be launched in Q4 2016.
Met 2, which is targeted to be launched in Q2 2019 covers strata offices and a hotel that spreads across 1.71 acres, whereas Met 3 will have a lifestyle mall with Naza signature tower, luxury condominium, a 5-star hotel as well as Class A office towers.
Met 5, which is a joint venture project with Hap Seng Land Sdn Bhd has a GDV of RM3.8bil. Spreads across 8.95 acres, Met 5 consists of podium retail that will be connected to the retails at Met 3, as well as serviced residential tower, office tower, residential tower and a hotel.
Adjacent to Met 5 is Met 6, which is a stand alone Class A office tower with a GDV of RM811mil.
Wellness suites will be located at Met 7 in support of dedicated industry body, KL Healthcare Travel Council or KLHTC, that will be set up by the Ministry of Tourism to foster collaboration in promoting and developing medical tourism in Kuala Lumpur.
Neighbouring Met 7 is Met 8, which will comprise of two Class A office towers jointly developed by Triterra Metropolis Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Keystone Impetus Sdn Bhd). The deal to jointly develop the 2.47-acre plot was sealed on Sept 22 2015. The expected completion is by 2021.
A purpose-built 6-star hotel will be constructed at Met 9 to cater to exhibitors and participants of MITEC.
KL Metropolis was launched on Oct 25 2011 with three strategic joint ventures to date. On Sept 2, Naza TTDI started collaborating with Nusmetro Property Sdn Bhd for the development of 3.29 acres with three towers consisting of serviced suites, serviced residences and managed residences. Targeted completion for the towers is by 2019.
“The GDV for the whole development of KL Metropolis is RM20bil that is spread across 15 years. Although the component within KL Metropolis might change, the masterplan for this mega project is definitely fixed, and the phases will be launched according to the progress of the development,” said SM Faliq.
