Common Ground, Malaysia’s fastest-growing co-working space, will be opening its doors at the MyTOWN Shopping Centre come mid-September
Catering to the growing demand for quality office spaces in the Kuala Lumpur commercial real estate market, Common Ground’s opening at MyTOWN completes the retail mall’s vision of creating an all-inclusive community hub for social meetings, leisure, and work. The branch at MyTOWN will co-exist conveniently alongside existing resources and add to MyTOWN’s vibrant mix of retailers such as Asian-based departmental store Parkson, Malaysia’s largest cinema chain Golden Screen Cinemas, and Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA as the anchor tenant.
Additionally, MyTOWN is centrally located with direct access to four major highways including the Maju Expressway (MEX) and the Cochrane MRT station to the mall; providing Common Ground members with a convenient commute to and from KLIA and the opportunity to explore more of the city.
“Accessibility is one of the pivotal elements of MyTOWN with seamless connectivity to the mall from major highways including MEX’s direct access ramp and the Cochrane MRT station. Common Ground’s launch in MyTOWN will not only introduce a more creative and interactive working culture but will also conveniently enhance the quality of life for its community members, creating a vibrant meeting space for the many people to work and play all under one roof,” said En Mohd Azhan bin Che Mat, General Manager for MyTOWN Shopping Centre.
Measuring about 18,000sqft in size and spanning across two levels of MyTOWN, the flexible workspace has its own reception, cafe, lounges, meeting rooms, private offices, and main activity area.
According to Common Ground’s co-Founder, Juhn Teo, “Common Ground’s expansion plans are heavily informed by the booming epicentres around the Southeast Asian region – not only do we know from our research and experience that proximity and neighbourhood are key factors in people’s decision-making process behind selecting an office space, but we also understand that providing accessibility and convenience is critical in rendering our members’ lives easier. MyTOWN Shopping Centre is perfect for our Cheras location as it borders a large population, strategically located between the heart of Cheras and downtown Kuala Lumpur. The shopping centre also boasts 1.1 million square feet of retail space, giving our members untethered access to diverse dining, shopping, and entertainment options."
"We are always looking for ways to give our members’ lives more value and opening our Cheras location in one of Malaysia’s largest shopping malls epitomizes that goal. We also hope that by integrating Common Ground’s dynamic coworking experience with MyTOWN’s retail demographic, we further bolster the engagement, diversity, and vibrancy of their ecosystem. As a disruptor, this synergistic partnership with MyTOWN aligns with Common Ground’s principles of bringing innovation and growth to non-traditional spaces,” adds Juhn Teo."
The aesthetically stylish co-working space aims to connect their community members with other like-minded business leaders, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, developers and designers. With its multi-faceted clients in mind, Common Ground offers three tiers of space rentals: the Hot Desk, which allows members to work at an open spot in the common area; the Fixed Desk, which reserves particular workstations for members; and the Private Office, which offers rooms that can cater up to six individuals.
An exciting departure from traditional office spaces and culture, Common Ground’s members are set to experience a full eco-system where business solutions, accelerated programmes and workshops would all be within reach at the MyTOWN venue. Its lifestyle-driven culture incorporates networking and partnership events with a strong focus on community building that benefits the members beyond a basic workspace.
