This middle-to-low cost residential area was built in 1977 but remained relatively vacant until 1985. Taman Kobena is situated in an area thriving in amenities and public facilities. There are enough educational institutions to cater for residents of all ages, from kindergartens to primary and secondary schools. The nearest college is a four-minute drive away via Jalan Skudai. Convenience stores, fast food restaurants and commercial areas are all located within walking distance. Commercial areas, religious buildings and a petrol station line the main road to Taman Kobena. Taman Kobena is directly in front of the Waterfront City Shopping Centre. The building appears to be slightly outdated, but the residents of Taman Kobena have more than one option. A quick drive will reveal several other shopping locations such as Giant Hypermarket and Plaza Angsana. Perling Mall and Kip Mart are both mere minutes away as well.Taman Kobena is situated in a high-density area. That aside, accessibility is not a problem. Residents can access the enclave via Jalan Skudai, Lebuhraya Pasir Gudang and Jalan Tampoi. Traffic on Jalan Skudai is heavy during peak hours but the Pasir Gudang highway remains clear most days and most hours.

  • Analysis

Taman Kobena is a rather old neighbourhood, thus upon first glance, it appears poorly maintained. There are a number of houses that have been renovated and coated with fresh paints, but the majority appear unkempt. Neighbourhood roads are narrow and compact, with cars lining the streets and double parked outside houses.Population and commercial density are both high, so there is a steady stream of activity throughout the day. Traffic during peak hours is congested on most roads into the housing development, especially since there are so many schools surrounding the area. Jalan Skudai is problematic, to say the least, so do avoid that road and try alternatives such as Lebuhraya Pasir Gudang or Jalan Tampoi. That aside, there is no doubt that living in Taman Kobena is convenient. Located within walking distance to schools, restaurants and commercial areas, there is not much of a need to venture far for amenities or entertainment. The airport is also just a 25 minute drive away.
