On Mondays where the Pasar Malam is held, the area or road into Desa Gembira can be rather congested. But many love the convenience of being able to get their groceries and food purchases done without having to travel out of the area. The nearest shopping malls from Desa Gembira are the Plaza OUG at Taman OUG and Endah Parade at Taman Sri Petaling. Hypermarkets like Giant and Carrefour and also the Store supermarket provide plenty of choices to the residents. Years back, there was a big hue-and-cry over the management firm of the Desa Gembira, DG Management Services. There were break-ins due to lack of security, many complaints by the residents that their grouses were not attended to. A complaint was also filed with the Housing and Local Government Ministry to assist the residents association to address the matters. There is hope that things have improved today. There has been a lot of development within the area, so noise and pollution have increased. Other low-cost properties surround the condo, but Gembira Residen a mid-upper class condominium project next door by Chin Hin Group was completed in 2013. Property value of the area of Desa Gembira has been slow in increase, but current demand and upgrade of the area with medium-high cost condos should bring in a good return of investment.
