According to last year's crime rate statistics, police have revealed that Rawang has the second highest crime rate in Selangor. This has led to the formation of a security council by residents of Zone 17, Rawang which includes residents from Taman Bayu Permai to help tackle crimes in the area. MPS Council for Zone 17, Gunarajah R. George which also represents residents associations from Taman Bayu Permai, Taman Velox, Bandar Country Homws Phase 1-13, Kota Emerald and a few more townships have stated that the forming of this council is to get residents to fight crime together. There was also a SMS alert program launched to communicate with the residents of neighboring townships on crime-related matters. The most recent case that involves Taman Bayu Permai is that the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) has issued a stop work order on a bridge upgrade project which is near Kampung Sungai Bakau. The contractors did not get approval from Public Works Department (PWD) and also the council before starting their construction work. Shop owners around that area have raised concerns over the construction of the 2-lane bridge at the entrance of Taman Bayu Permai which is also near to Jalan Rawang-Tasik Puteri stating that the construction work would further worsen the traffic congestion in the morning and the evenings around that area. However, with the construction of a new shopping centre, Jusco Rawang near Taman Bayu Permai, there is potential for appreciation as there are more and more developments around.
