The site of Datum Jelatek was previously an old and low-cost flats owned by PKNS, which is dubbed as "Flat Columbia" for their drug and vice dens in the 1980s. The four blocks flat will be demolished for this project. Most owners of the flats and shop lots have accepted PKNS' buy-back compensation scheme. PKNS have paid compensation between RM250,000 and RM300,000 for each house, and RM450,000 to RM500,000 to business lot owners. But there are still 10% of the owners have rejected the offer and will be relocated to the two flats facing the Jelatek RapidKL LRT station. There is nothing much information can be gathered at this point since most information and news spread about the development of Datum Jelatek are influenced by political agenda. There is a speculation that says this project would never finish since it is a PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) project. However, it seems that the development is doing good and still on schedule so far. There is a big potential for Datum Jelatek to become a successful project because of its modern and green design, and its strategic location in between KL city centre, Ampang Point commercial centre and Wansa Maju. Besides that, Datum Jelatek neighbors the affluent Ampang Hilir enclave, which will help boost its value.
