The company was formerly known as General Lumber (Holdings) Bhd and changed its name to Land & General Berhad in 1991. Land & General Berhad was incorporated on 21st May 1964 under the name of Nanyang Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Company was listed on the KLSE (formerly the Stock Exchange of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore Ltd) in 1968. It maintained both of these listings until 1989 when Malaysian Government policy and the listing requirements of the KLSE required its delisting from the Stock Exchange of Singapore, which took effect from 1 January 1990. The Company is currently listed on the Main Board of the Bursa Malaysia.
It was originally operated as a saw-miller and timber trader by securing several timber concessions. In the mid 1980s, the company expanded its business following the introduction of a new management team.
As of today, the company is an investment holding company with subsidiaries, principally engaged in the property investment and development business. The company also engages in the cultivation of rubber and oil palm, ownership of a school building complex, and provision of education services.
