The increasing crime rates have always been an issue in the Ampang area. Several serious crimes that had made headlines last year included a 12 year old girl that was abducted near a convenience in Taman Dagang early last year. The girl was found but was completely traumatized over the incident. There was also a case where a lorry driver was found at the car park of a flat in Taman Dagang. The body was found by a passer-by who later lodged a police report. The deceased was last seen arguing with someone before he was murdered. Police indicated that the murder was most probably due to family disputes. Residents of Taman Dagang do not have to worry much as Ampang Jaya District Police HQ is located within the vicinity. The policemen always make a round trip in the area.
