Crime rate in Taman Intan Baiduri has been worrying the residents there. Several crimes happened had made headlines - such as 'shots may have paralyzed fleeing drug dealer suspect' which was published in The Malay Mail end of last year whereby a suspected drug dealer was shot in the neck and may be paralyzed due to this incident. The suspect also rammed his car into a nasi lemak stall injuring 2 bystanders. Another case involving gun shots was when 2 separate rival groups of about 20 Mat Rempits fought in front of the emergency ward of Selayang Hospital. Police were forced to fire 2 shots in order to get them to stop. The Mat Rempits were also violent as one of them held a 'parang' over the neck of a security guard. The fight was believed to be caused by issues over 2 girls.The most recent case happened in 8th of May, 2011 when a gang of car thieves mistook a group of policemen for their rivals and attacked them. One of the gang members died while two others suffered serious injuries after they were ran over by a car during the incident near Taman Intan Baiduri at 3am. Policemen were sent over to patrol the area after a tip-off stating that the gangs were planning to start a fight.
